Ren'Py → Spark(no unzipping) RPG Maker → RPGViewer(unzipping required)

Prepare emulator

Please search for and buy an emulator on Taobao (Ren'Py games use Spark, RPG Maker games use RPGViewer), and ask the seller for install instructions.

Download game files

Download the game's PC package (.7z) from this site.

Import / Extract

First try importing the .7z directly into Spark (no unzipping, lowest effort). If it won't open, extract it with an unzip app and take a look: Has a game folder → still a job for Spark; Has a www folder, or js and data folders → use RPGViewer instead and select the folder containing them.

Run & play

Open the game files with the emulator to start playing. If the archive has a date folder at the top, go one level deeper.

Game synopsis

The Fox Tale of East and West: "A Japanese-style action RPG! It tells the story of the nine-tailed fox protagonist Kohaku, who accidentally breaks the seal on an evil spirit through mischief and sets out on a journey to recapture the escaped spirits, transforming into various forms to resolve the strange incidents breaking out across the land and growing along the way. Kohaku is known as a mischievous fox and is shunned by the city's residents. Can he? She? (Kohaku's gender is unknown!) really save the capital of Nasubihara and restore peace to the city...? This game's appeal isn't just its cuteness! There's also a story worth digging into, over 20 characters, richly varied character voices, beautiful music by Aaaa that brings the fantasy world to life, gorgeous art by creator Bayachao, and it's an action RPG for the clumsy (rather than demanding controls and gameplay, this game focuses on story presentation and the characters' dialogue!)
