Please search for and buy an emulator on Taobao (Ren'Py games use Spark, RPG Maker games use RPGViewer), and ask the seller for install instructions.

Download the game's PC package (.7z) from this site.

Import / Extract

First try importing the .7z directly into Spark (no unzipping, lowest effort). If it won't open, extract it with an unzip app and take a look: Has a game folder → still a job for Spark; Has a www folder, or js and data folders → use RPGViewer instead and select the folder containing them.

Run & play

Open the game files with the emulator to start playing. If the archive has a date folder at the top, go one level deeper.

Game synopsis

An Italian-style Western stealth game about a boy trying to find his mother

As a 6-year-old child, "El Hijo" must always sneak through the dangers of this world. As he overcomes challenges, he gains confidence, becomes more cunning, and finds more plans to overcome his enemies. The epic journey will lead him through a remote monastery, a harsh and unforgiving desert, and a frontier town filled with crime and villainy.

The journey begins when a farmer and her son are attacked by bandits who raze their farm to the ground. The mother decides to leave the boy at a secluded monastery to protect him. However, the place feels wrong, and he plans his escape.

"El Hijo - A Wild West Tale" is a non-violent stealth game in which you rely on a small child's mischievousness and playfulness. Using the shadows to your advantage is a core element of the game, as "El Hijo" frequently has to hide. Without unnecessarily adding new mechanics, gameplay expands naturally as existing mechanics are gradually introduced with variations and then combined to increase the challenge. These changes to familiar mechanics are usually the product of diverse, increasingly dangerous environments that "El Hijo" must traverse to reach his ultimate goal.
