In the aftermath of a violent climate catastrophe, the flooded district of Hightower has become a safe zone, flanked on both sides by arid wastelands: on one side, a ravaged, barren war zone; on the other, the impregnable city of Alphaville, behind whose towering walls the rich indulge in endless excess.
Rumor has it that these wealthy elites are fleeing to Mars one after another. As for the lowly survivors, they can only sail across the flood-submerged world, seeking allies, fighting rebels, stealing food, and trying to find out whether the rumors are true.
