Game synopsis
This is a story from about 50 years ago, in the 47th year of Showa (1972).
The protagonist, a high school student, sets off for his grandparents' hometown,
beginning a short trip that lasts one summer—an annual tradition.
Traveling together with his little sister, he should have been spending calm, leisurely days with the villagers...
—Do not enter the mountains, or a curse will befall you.
Such a legend seems to have been passed down in the village.
People believe monsters live in the mountains, and that if you happen to encounter one, you will be cursed.
"In an age when rockets fly to the moon, such superstition is absurd."
The protagonist doesn't believe a word of it, but he has his own secret.
He had once seen with his own eyes where that monster dwells.
It was nothing but a dilapidated shrine.
So without hesitation, he heads once more to that forbidden place.
Walking into the mountains, he passes beneath a torii gate overgrown with wild grass.
At last, he sees once again that ruined shrine rising from the surface of the lake.
He steps inside without hesitation, yet a doubt arises:
...Why did I never go inside before?
Since I've come all this way, I should have gone in—
but he realizes he has no memory at all of what happened then.
"You seem to have grown a little taller, haven't you?"
A voice comes from somewhere.
And he recognizes the owner of that voice.
More precisely, it is only "now," after entering this place, that he remembers.
"...How many years has it been since then?"
"Five years and three days."
After 1827 days, we meet again.
They do not ask each other's names; their memories already know who the other is.
Yet this "memory"
is not something that can be kept forever...
作为高中生的主人公动身前往祖父母的故乡，
开始了为期一夏的短途旅行，这也是每年的惯例。
与妹妹结伴而行，本应和村民们共度平静悠闲的日子……
——不能进入山中，诅咒会降临。
村子里似乎流传着这样的传说。
人们相信山里住着怪物，若是不期而遇，变会遭逢诅咒。
“在火箭飞向月球的时代，这种迷信真是荒谬。”
虽然主人公完全不信这些，但他却另有隐情。
他曾亲眼看到过那个怪物的栖息地。
那不过是个破旧的神社。
于是，他毫不犹豫地再次前往那个禁忌之地。
走进大山中，路经一片被野草覆盖的鸟居。
最终，他再次见到了从湖面浮现的那座破旧神社。
毫不犹豫地走进神社后，却心生疑惑：
……为什么我以前没进来过呢？
既然都已经来到这里了，理应进去才对，
但他却发现自己完全不记得当时的事情。
“你好像长高了一点吧？”
不知从哪儿传来的声音。
而他认出了那个声音的主人。
准确来说，是他进到这里后，“现在”才想起来的。
“……从那时起，已经过了多少年了？”
“5年又3天。”
1827天后，我们再次重逢。
没有询问彼此的名字，记忆里早已知晓对方为何。
然而，这份“记忆”
却并非是能永久保留之物……
