Varushia of the White Light ~What a Wonderful Hope~

At the far end of a distant otherworld. A desert city beneath blue skies and starry heavens—
This is a vast city in the middle of an expansive desert, where none but the powerful youths known as Adepts are permitted to go outside. For a thousand years, a hemispherical "Great Canopy" covered most of the sky, but now the city of Valusia is gazed upon by blue skies and stars.
By the decision of a governor who inherited a noble bloodline, the "Great Canopy" was opened, and exchange began with the civilized powers that crossed the "Wall" at the far end of the world—bringing a rapid influx of various races and of advanced mechanical technology known as Kikan. Several years have passed since then.
The city continues to change. The people, once protected by the "Great Canopy" and taught to fear the outside, now feel the stirring and upheaval of a thousand years of custom through their dealings with foreigners from the powers and with the heteromorphic peoples from the north and east of the continent—
Young people who became Adepts through ancient tradition and search the ruins and labyrinths outside the city—full of hidden treasures and danger—now fight with curved blades against the monsters called "Horrors" that breed in those ruins, as the guild that ruled them for a thousand years dissolves and the scholarly association closely tied to one of the powers, the "Empire," takes over their governance—
The advanced technology "Kikan" brought by the people of the powers extends to every corner of Valusia; Kikan factories and Kikan towers are built one after another, Kikan smoke rises daily into the blue sky, and mobile harems can be seen everywhere. The "Kikan" that brings abundance and prosperity has won the favor of the governor and the city's people, but—
The cause is unknown. Perhaps it simply happened at this time by coincidence.
But, but. Over the past six months, the "Horrors" that should only appear in the labyrinths have frequently appeared in the city. A colossal "Horror"—so huge it could reach the former "Great Canopy"—
The people are bewildered by the foreigners who came with the opening of the "Great Canopy," rejoice in the prosperity brought by the "Kikan," and fear the terror brought by the giant "Horror." And there is the colossal statue of unknown identity that shattered the giant monster overnight and vanished into the darkness.
The governor is the same. Though he has welcomed a princess of one of the powers, the "Empire," into his palace, he fears the city's changes and the "Horrors" more than anyone.
Then, on a certain starry night.
A boy witnessed something dazzling, a young man learned love, a girl touched the meaning of the starry sky, an assassin shed tears of regret.
And in the end, a songstress composed a story-melody that flows together with the tune—
