Shion ~The Cruel Angel of Magic~

The protagonist, Hiroki Asaki (あさきひろき), is a student attending a school in the city. He lives alone in an apartment on the outskirts of the city, separated from his parents back in his hometown.
A routine day, a routine morning, a routine commute to school... wait, he's going to be late! He jumps out of bed, not bothering with his messy hair, and dashes out the door, running toward the station.
Almost at the station! He can catch the train that just pulled in. However, because our protagonist's attention is completely focused on the train, he fails to notice that he's running straight across a two-lane road with heavy traffic...
A truck comes barreling toward him with the screech of brakes, and only then does he see the panicked look on the truck driver's face.
"Uh, am I gonna die?" His vision goes white. His final words are oddly calm. His vision returns. The truck has stopped a short distance away. The protagonist is sitting flat on the ground. The crowd around him is in an uproar. "Saved?"
Just then, he hears the station announcement for the train's arrival. "Whoa, crap!" He quickly gets up and starts running, and for some reason, his body feels a bit lighter.
That evening, he walks slowly home from the station, muttering, "Ah, I ended up late after all—just 30 seconds short, ha." As he's passing through a park near his home, the trees sway in the wind, and the moon hides behind the clouds, making the empty park even darker. Feeling a hint of fear, the protagonist quickens his pace.
"Heh heh, looks like I'm the first one here." At some point, a man in a trench coat has appeared on the path ahead. His hat brim is pulled low, completely obscuring his expression. There's an indescribable sense of wrongness about him. Familiar yet alien. All other sounds fade away, and a long ringing fills his ears.
"Haha, I've got a bad feeling about this. Speaking of which, maybe I should head to the convenience store in front of the station," the protagonist says, turning around to go back. But another figure appears on the path.
"Don't move." Standing there is a girl dressed like something out of Kiteretsu (an old reference, a work by Fujiko F. Fujio).
"Is she cosplaying as a magical girl..." the protagonist thinks to himself, while the man in the trench coat gives off an eerie vibe.
"Ghost... putting on a human disguise."
"A lone doll, pretty confident, huh? Heh heh."
Leaving the protagonist standing in the middle, the two converse, and the battle begins.
The transparent wings that unfold from the girl's back fold forward like a funnel, turning her into a flying turret.
Beams of light fire from the tips of her wings, and their target—"Hey, why are you aiming at me?!"
What will become of our unfortunate protagonist's ultimate fate?
