Sengoku Hime 2 ~In an Age of War, Heroes Like a Storm~
Game synopsis
After the decade-long civil war known as the Onin War, which burned Kyoto to the ground, the shogunate lost its authority and its power gradually declined.
As the shogunate's control weakened, the trend of the lower overthrowing the upper spread unstoppably across the provinces. Uprisings toppled local rulers, shugo daimyo resisted the control of bureaucrats, and bureaucrats drove out shoguns.
In this chaotic era, men who organized their own retainers, prepared their weapons, and governed their own domains came to be known as Sengoku daimyo, and they began to rise to prominence. Hojo, Uesugi, Imagawa, Mori, Otomo, Oda, Shimazu, Satake, Date, Takeda...
Set in this same era, these Sengoku daimyo who rose across the country defeated their enemies on the battlefield, stormed enemy castles, and sometimes formed alliances, each expanding their territory to survive in this turbulent age.
Then, some of the more forward-thinking among them began to notice a certain fact.
— Whether it was the Kamakura shogunate or the Ashikaga shogunate, they were merely one rising family.
If that was the case, then if they too could make the entire country submit to them through their own strength, wouldn't they also be able to "unify the realm"?
And so, this long era of war, later known as the "Sengoku period," began.
