Game synopsis

Eighteen years ago, Cardinal Gilbert was demoted to the remote seaside town of Canaston after committing an offense at the church headquarters in the capital. There he inherited the position of the late bishop and ruled the town for twenty years. As time passed, Canaston prospered ever more as a trading city. Emily, the adopted daughter Gilbert took in from the town's orphanage, has now reached her eighteenth birthday. For many years, no "Blessed Daughter" appointed by the goddess Eifuruo has been born in Canaston, leaving the position of Holy Maiden—the goddess's agent who protects the town—vacant, and people fear the town will once again fall into poverty and ruin. Seeing that Emily's qualities are in no way inferior to those of the previous Holy Maiden, Gilbert resolves to make her the Holy Maiden. However, because Emily is not a "Blessed Daughter," she meets fierce opposition from the believers. Gilbert therefore makes a pact with all the faithful: if Emily fails to win their recognition within two years, she will be stripped of the position of Holy Maiden. Just as Gilbert is guiding Emily toward becoming Holy Maiden, an intruder appears in the church. This intruder—who has plagued Gilbert, escaped the church's pursuit several times, and whose movements are shrouded in mystery—what is their true goal...?! Two years, neither long nor short, and the time the two spend together dwindles day by day. Can Emily overcome one obstacle after another, break the believers' fixed notion that "only a Blessed Daughter can become the Holy Maiden," and realize her ideal?
