The protagonist, Kosuke Takahara, is in love with his childhood friend who is one year older than him, Suzume Azumino.
Their families have been close for a long time, and his relationship with Suzume has always been like that of an older sister and younger brother.
But this summer, he has resolved to put an end to that relationship with his own hands—taking advantage of a family trip where both families are traveling together, he plans to confess his feelings to her.
However, on the first day of the trip, trouble comes knocking.
Due to a mistake at the time of booking, they are one room short.
"Nothing we can do about it," Kosuke gives up his room to Suzume and prepares to squeeze in with his parents.
But just then, Suzume speaks up:
